Nature Cycle

The wind
has finished`off
what nature began
with green buds
of spring

We watched
as they unfurled
following blossoms
yielding to sweet

The autumn
brought on color
to warm our hearts
til came the rains
to our grief

See now
the mothers gray
shivering to winter
shriveled breasts
dry buds

and a time for every matter under heaven . . .” ~ Ecclesiastes

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!

This is very beautiful, Peter. Expecting that my locust tree will shed her last bits of yellow with our current wind advisory today. Will think of this poem when it does. <3
