Autumn Light

Image result for monet autumn light

Like a Monet
the scene is the same
only the light has changed
greens gone to amber
blues to purple

At even`song
the window of the sea
is now the rose`stained`glass
of the Rouen cathedral
in Normandy

Even the moon
grows whiter at night
or is it simply the darker`dark
makes it loom so large
lit`up in sunlight

                                                “. . . And I,
who only wished to keep looking out,
must now keep looking in.” ~ Ted Kooser

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!
