On Peace

Kerri Blackman

You lay
yourself down
across the chasm
impossible to cross
give me pathway
from isolation
to home

You tear
down the wall
built by my fears
of everything other
show me beauty
hiding in scars
you bear

You see
white I brown
both bleeding red
feeling but one pain
in your sufferings
lies my health
my hope

“He is our peace who has broken down
the dividing wall, the hostility between us,
creating one new humanity in place of the two.” ~ St Paul

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!
