Paul Klee

“My heart overflows
           with a goodly theme;
   I address my verses to the king;
          my tongue is like the pen
              of a ready scribe.” ~ Psalm 45:1

The power
of governance
is a mighty river
flowing thru a land
parched with drought
its people hungering
for opportunity
for fair wages
fresh starts

The power
of a governor
is to let the water
flow freely onto land
wasteland to vineyard
prairie to wheat`field
taxing its wealth
to provide for
its poverty

Let anyone who would govern
govern with justice & truth!

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!
