The Weaver

Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky

“Transgression speaks to the wicked
       deep in their hearts;
    there is no fear of God before their eyes.
 For they flatter themselves in their own eyes
    that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
 The words of their mouths
       are mischief and deceit;
    they have ceased to act wisely and do good.
 They plot mischief while on their beds;
       they are set on a way that is not good;
    they do not reject evil.” ~ Psalm 36:11-4

The weaver
works at his weaving
the shuttle of his words
flying back and forth
like a bullet

Some weave
for the sake of beauty
tapestries of sheer grace
from yarns true to life
warp to woof

Others weave
for the sake of misery
fishnets to trap the truth
webs of feign trickery
weft to warp

Our Weaver
works at his Weaving
his Shuttle of Fake Truth
flying back and forth
like a Laser

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!
