“The Lord is my chosen portion
and my cup; you hold my lot.
The boundary lines have fallen
         for me in pleasant places.
     I have a goodly heritage.” ~ Psalm 16:5-6

Love fences me in
defines my boundaries
There in that deep canyon
runs an artesian spring
on the hill flowers

At dawn I awaken
to your lines of beauty
Your hands hold my reins
til at eventide you turn
me back to home

I’m grace`branded
Yours by birth to death
My heart tamed by grace
rests within the bounds
set by your mercy

The wild horses
praise the open`range
where they can run at will
But it is in your will
I find my peace

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!
