Robin Pocisk

On a rip`tide
the river’s current
meets the tidal flow
One pressing in from the sea
another pushing back off land
Here amid the primal conflict
things long forgotten
rise up to a surface
clear as a shore

So too cultures
collide East & West
the old order & the new
One the guardians of tradition
another the progeny of evolution
Here within all this turbulence
mysteries will be resolved
old myths unmasked
as human detritus

About Peter Notehelfer

I'm a retired people person who now finds the time to watch the little details of the world without worrying about being watched by anyone . . . I live on an Island north of Seattle with my wife named Ellen, a yellow dog named McGee, a yellow cat named Gatzby, and four fine chickens . . . I read fiction, bake bread, smoke salmon, and fish whenever the weather allows . . . Oh, and yes, I try to write a poem every day simply to avoid senility!

  1. A good metaphor for co-existence and humanity. :)
